A Mother's Love

Mother's Day turned out to be a beautiful day. Really. It was sunny and warm. A combination that hasn't happened here for a good long while.

After church, we decided to invite our friends over for supper (our first grilling out this year) and a campfire. (Smores made with Reese's instead of chocolate bars...TO DIE FOR!)

We ended up having a kickball showdown and really good food. The mothers (me and my friend) sat on the sidelines and talked and sometimes cheered, and that was enough.

It was a good night.

But let me go back.... I told you last Friday that we had one ewe who had triplets. They were all a little weak, and we weren't sure if they were going to make it or not. Sadly enough, one died, and because Marley our dog licked another one, (and got the dog's scent on it) our ewe won't accept it. She's only feeding the one. So, Grace became a mother overnight.

Much to her joy and dismay.

He really is an adorable little ram, and he follows her everywhere. She named him Bubba. Evan named him Wags (cause his tail wags when he eats).

Brent and Grace are taking turns feeding it with a bottle every couple of hours. He's quite a novelty now, but already it's getting old, and this has to go on for at least a month.

But just look at him!

While this little one attaches himself to Grace, we're hoping he'll learn everything from his buddies in the pasture with him. We all laughed when Brent said, "He'll have to learn to eat grass from the others, because Grace surely isn't gonna show him!"

I don't know...Mothers tend to do a lot for their kids!

Hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day too!

Easter Lambs

How fitting that on Easter Sunday 2 weeks ago, we had six baby lambs born. It was quite a treat to come home from our Easter dinner with family to see we had some little ones out in the pasture.

Our oldest ewe, Lambchop, had only one this year.

Two other ewes had twins,

One was born with a black mark under his lip, (looks like he's wearing black lipstick.) Grace appropriately named him Licorice.
Marley kept watch all day and tried his best not to pace around.

If he got too close to a baby, the mother head-butted him away. He's learning his place among the sheep.
Unfortunately one of our first year ewes had a stillborn.

BUT today our last ewe, Lily, had TRIPLETS. We've never had one that had three before.

They are all pretty weak. We hope they all pull through. It's terrible when one dies.

But for now, we have 6 ewes and 9 babies. We have a full pasture...but aren't they cute?

I'm linking up to Verde Farm's Farm Friend/Farmgirl Friday with Dandelion House as well.

I wish I may, I wish I might

... have enough time to finish one of these crafts....one night.

When I have a countdown of only 18 days of school until summer break, a part of me gets really excited!

I start making serious lists. Lists that I know will be completed sometime over the summer. Things I've waited on practically all year to accomplish, but just haven't had enough time. Things always get in the way!

Things I've recently seen on Pinterest.com, which is the most awesome website I've ever encountered! Don't walk there, run, but I'm giving you a fair warning...you'll get hooked!

Anyway, here are my top 5 crafty projects I recently saw on pinterest, with links of course, that I would like to accomplish very soon.

I'm not sure what I'd do with this...maybe put in it my kitchen somewhere...I don't know, it's just cute. The colors above are adorable!

2. Tissue Paper Flowers/tulle flowers/coffee filter flowers

I saw this image on Pinterest.com and loved it, and thought of Grace's room right away. Of course we'd have to work with the colors turquoise, purple, and chocolate brown, but that's ok.
Then I saw this image today of the tissue paper/tulle flowers, (link above) and thought these were cool too.

But then my mind started racing and I thought, what if I used my khaki colored coffee filters, and some Styrofoam balls, and made my own kind of flower. The possibilities are endless.

3. Painted Candlesticks.

Enough said. I love this idea, and there was no link, but after seeing something similar in a Pottery Barn magazine, and drooling over them for a year, I think this is the much cheaper way to go.

Love these. I have a gazillion pins everywhere upstairs by the sewing machine. These would be great.

and lastly,

5. Bucket/magazine rack.

There was no link to this, either, but I've seen this in Country Living magazine or something before. In March, on an antiquing trip, I got a flowery shelf bracket like this. I like this idea for the bathroom or kids room.

So, here's my top 5 in a nutshell. I'll post sometime later about how I actually finished these, IF I finished them. Bear with me people.
