Getting sucked in

Have you ever been sucked in by an infomercial?

I have, many a time.

Have you ever reached for your credit card and the phone and actually placed the order?

I haven't done that, but I've went to the computer and searched all over the web for the item that "supposedly" is only available for  a limited time on TV.

That is, IF you're one of the first 100 to call.

The other night everyone was in bed except me.

I was surfing the channels like Brent usually does, trying to find something interesting to watch.

I came upon this infomercial.

Luminess air airbrush makeup kit.  (LINK HERE)

It's actually pretty impressive.

You add some liquid makeup to the little airbrush wand, and just make circles all around the front of your face.

Flawless coverage.  Even covered the ugliest red spots and dark circles.

I was intrigued.  I was impressed.  I wondered if the models were real, or just alot of editing went into the comercial.

It boasted a $29.99 price tag.

I went to bed and slept on it, only to think about it again in the morning.

That is...until I looked it up today and found out, sure, the initial price is $29.99, BUT, then if you like it after 30 days, you'll make 4 payments of $49.95 each.

Ok.  Not so impressive anymore.

I mean, sure the almost perfect makeup coverage was a draw.

I was smitten with the fact of how easy it was.

But then, reality set in.

Have you ever been persuaded by an infomercial.

Have you actually bought anything?  I will NOT judge.  I won't.

Now come on...spill the beans!

  1. When I was in college I ended up buying one of those Time Life cd sets - music of the 70s or 80s - don't remember which - what they don't tell you on the infomercial is it's not the real artists and once you buy you are subscribed to receive a new cd every month for twice what a cd cost in the store!

  2. Years ago I bought a weight loss video series that was so ridiculous I couldn't even let hubby watch me do the "moves." It was a skinny old lady breathing and stretching herself thin and it did NOT work. Thank goodness for a money back guarantee! If it seems to good to be true, it is! :)

  3. HA! I feel for ya! Every time those Wen commercials come on, I've convinced my hair sucks and I need that!! :)

I bought the Liposene many years ago, late at night, after eating a fatty dinner and feeling like crap. I took the pills for (maybe) a week, and that was it. Total waste of money. Then they call you monthly to get your to fill your bottle. It's hard to shake those guys!

  4. NEVER! I don't think I know anyone that has! And I don't miss those days years ago (pre DVR) when there was nothing else to watch when my kids were babies, were sick and even more recently in high school (typically the only time I watched night time tv!)
