I went to Goodwill today with a list. It was their 50% off sale, AND I had a coupon for $5 off! So, I loaded the kids up and we hit the road. (we had other things to do today, but this was our first stop.) This is just part of what I got, but each of these items has a project attached to it, that I plan to do very soon. The wreath is what I'll show you today:
You see, I've been inspired. The creative juices are flowing again. My friend and co-worker
Chanelle, whose blog you can find
here, hooked me up with this lady's
blog. She is AMAZING, and I want to make all the projects she has!
So, the other day after school, knowing I had seen this in the Pottery Barn catalog:
(and knowing I could make it CHEAPER)
I headed out to the road that has bittersweet growing wild. I will keep my sources under wraps in case you all try to go out and take the rest from me. All the while I was cutting it, I had the greatest fear poison ivy was just encircling my legs. Serves me right I guess.
Anyway, I brought it home and it looked like this:
Not super beautiful...but it will be!
I took all the leaves off and this is the measly amount that was left.
I was a little
disappointed, but I started anyway.
First, I used the grapevine wreath I bought today for $.50!
Next, I got around the floral wire, paper clips, ribbon, and bittersweet that I would need.
I started just interweaving the bittersweet in with the wreath,
until it was all filled in.
Once all the bittersweet was on the wreath, I got the paper clip and some floral wire.
I just wrapped it together until it was secure
and then I stuck it in the wreath where ever I wanted and added some of my favorite pictures.
Then I hung it up. We are putting up all our fall decorations tomorrow. Grace is wearing me down asking when exactly we're gonna do it. I know it's a little early, and I'm sure by Thanksgiving I'll be sick of them, but I secretly want to do it! I LOVE fall and everything about it, so this project fits right in.
Hope you like it as much as I do. Instead of buying it from Pottery Barn for $59, I spent exactly $4! Not bad if I do say so myself!
More projects coming....I can't wait.
I love it! I'm sensing a project in my future.
