Feeling a little frisky

It's that time of year for us.

Each May our ewes start having new lambs.

They are the epitome of cute!

I dare you to disagree.
Unless they have a distinct mark on them, it's hard to tell them apart from the others, and to give them a name. But we try when we can.

We do have one who was born to a ewe we named Licorice because she had black lips.  The new lamb was born with black lips too.

Adorable.

The pasture where we keep the lambs is so peaceful.

We have four more ewes to have babies.  So far, we have a set of triplets, 3 sets of twins, and a single lamb.

I love May.

Gettin' my list on...

This is gonna sound nuts.

Truly.

I'm finally gettin' into the Holiday spirit.

I know, I know.  Ridiculous!

I've had my decorations up for a month, and my shopping is all done, and I can't wait to give the kids their gifts...

But tomorrow is the last day before school break, the last day I work before break, and I'm finally feelin' it.

There are no sporting events over break.  Thank you.

There are no practices anyone needs to be run to.

There is just peace.

Glorious, welcome peace.

Of course, I have a list.  I mean, I ALWAYS have a list.  But I have a list of things to finish over break.

However, today I want to show you my WISH LIST.

Like the list I would make if I could put some hot ticket items on my Christmas list...

THIS is the list I would make.

#1.  THIS coffee mugs cracks me up!
I am a reader (you all know that...) and it reminds me of the 90's song...I like big butts...(you're singing it now aren't you!?).  I would totally use this mug every day for my morning coffee.

#2.   Flower bracelet.  (found on pinterest with no source...)
It's my favorite colors, it's very simple yet bold...I LOVE it.

#3 & #4.  Any kisslock enclosure purse, but these are my favorites.

(The second one is Coach, and both are being sold on Ebay.)  I just love a kisslock purse.  Not sure why, except for the fact, my purse is CONSTANTLY falling off the seat in the van, and this would hold everything in!

#5 and #6.  Books.
I love books of all kinds, and I need some new ones.  These interest me greatly.

#7.  Pearl necklace.  Pearls make anything look fancier.  I love the bulky versions to dress up a sweater and blouse underneath.
(etsy.com  shop:  Eienblue)

#8.  Embellished Journal.
Now, I can make this myself, but it's so much nicer to have someone else make it.

How much nicer to have a To-Do list that's pretty.

#9.  Old swim baskets  (found at auctions, antique malls, etc.)
I love these for everything.  Organizing craft supplies, books, material, out of season clothes, etc.  There are a million things you can do with these!

#10.  Lace footies.
Are these not the cutest things you've ever seen?  (coccolareboutique.com)
and finally...

#11.  Toms wedges.
My fallback favorite.  I own a pair of Toms and they are the most comfortable shoes ever.  I love wedges, so I'm assuming these would be comfortable as well.  Love the herringbone design.

I could've had a nice round number like 10, but I couldn't help myself.

Now, what do you wish for?

I'm a copycat! Are you?

So one of my favorite ladies...Shannan over at Flowerpatchfarmgirl posted today about her favs on Pinterest.

I know it's totally the FAD of the moment...Pinterest.com that is.  But the fact is, I've fallen head over heels for it myself just like those pegged jeans back in the 80's and 90's.

You see, if you haven't tried it, well, you should.  It's as simple as that.  You can search for ANYTHING under the sun.  Like the tape player/radio/boombox I had growing up....
I saw it and was immediately transported back to my childhood room that I shared with my sister, when I would tape all my favorite songs off of the radio and declare that everyone be absolutely SILENT while I did so.

Pinterest is where I discovered I'm not the only one with an affliction for mixing the colors red and aqua.

It's the place that I've also found great recipes like these baked zucchini chips...
source
and this cowboy casserole.
source
I've found hundreds of DIY projects/home ideas/etc. and I've copied them myself.
better homes and gardens
There are great quotes...
and even greater tutorials.
source
And I've had a million Ah-Ha moments just by browsing...
(totally great idea for ribbon storage)
Yes, you can spend HOURS browsing, but I'd rather be doing that and being productive than surfing facebook.

I'm addicted like a crack addict.  (At least I think I am, I've never taken crack...)
I'd highly recommend it!  You can follow me on Pinterest.com by clicking on my link on my sidebar.
So, I'll admit it, I'm a copycat to the highest degree...are you?

Feeling a little Southern

Have any of you seen this new, up and coming, somewhat "hidden" show on the CW entitled 'Hart of Dixie'?
I have to admit, I didn't watch it from it's inception, but I catch it, usually by accident, every week. With our schedule, I just can't remember, and I usually see only it when I'm flipping channels.

Well, flipping through our 13 channels.  Our 13 non-cable channels.  Our amish cable as you will.

It stars the hunky from my old favorite, Friday Night Lights.
Jason Street. (That was his TV name on FNL.  I don't know his real name...)

The show is a  little edgy, a lot Southern, and I guess you could say it satisfies all my tendencies toward the Southern half of the country.  (Except for the heat and humidity that is!)

It's a little Margaret Mitchell, a little Sweet Home Alabama (one of my favorite movies.)

I'm a little hooked.  Course, I really don't have time to watch TV, but how else am I gonna unwind at the end of the day?

Then again, maybe I shouldn't get hooked.  It seems all my favorite shows experience a very early death after just a couple seasons.  Why TV executives does this have to be so?

A list...of course

Since I'm so good at lists.  Really.  I can't get enough.  I'm listing some things that I either HAVE, WANT, or just plain think are REALLY COOL.

1.  Shiny Brite ornaments.
source
I have found ALL my shiny brite ornaments at Goodwill over the years.  Just picked up some more for $1/box the other day.  I don't know why I like them. They look vintage, they are shiny, what more can a girl want?

2.  Pyrex dip bowl.

Another vintage find.  I don't have it, but think it's the best looking thing since sliced bread.  I have several Pyrex products since warming things up in the microwave is MUCH BETTER for you in a glass container instead of a plastic one.  I make dips quite a bit, and this would be great for parties!  PLUS, I LOVE aqua.

3.  Ruffled throw for the bed...or a ruffled comforter.

source

I love this.  I could make it, although it looks like it would take HOURS.  My husband, however, I don't know if he could get over sleeping under all those ruffles.  That might put him over the edge.
4.  Lace socks.
Who knew?  I've never seen anything like this before...and I found them on Pinterest, pinned by one of my followers.  Adorable.

5.  Coach purse.
I have always WANTED a Coach purse, just could never afford the price tag, and don't have it in me to save enough for one.  They are very pretty to look at though...and fawn over from afar!

6.  Hunter boot socks (Wellie socks).
These can be bought at Nordstrom.com, Hunter.com, Amazon.com, etc.  They would be great for keeping your feet extra warm in your boots.  They come in all materials.

And lastly,
7.  The perfect "shabby" dresser.
Better Homes and Gardens put this under their website as a "functional entry" piece.  Take a dresser, cut the legs off, add a cushions, and Wam-O, Presto, a great bench for your entry with storage.  I need to find a dresser like this!

So, that's my list for today.  See anything you like?

For the Love and Exasperation of a Man

Let me just state a disclaimer here before I even start this post...Brent and I are not a perfect couple. We have our ups and downs just like everyone. We have good days, and bad days, and days we don't want to repeat. We can rage at each other, and laugh uncontrollably in the very next moment (like in church this past Sunday...totally inappropriate, but it can't be helped...)

Since he can't quit harping on the fact that he's not a "fixture" on this blog, I just want to say, "Honey, this one's for you..."

In honor of our almost 14 year anniversary (Sept. 20), I thought I'd do what I do best...make a list.

This here is the good and not so good about my crazy hubby.

1. I love him greatly, but being married to him is exhausting. (Let me explain something so you understand. He came into the marriage with the belief I would do everything like his mom did. His unmentionables, shirts, and socks were folded a "certain" way. Unfortunately, they still are. I couldn't sway him from this. I've gotten used to it. ALSO, he loves to joke that a "fairy" travels around our house putting away his clothes, refilling the pitcher in the fridge, making supper, etc. THERE IS NO FAIRY at our house. It's not funny. Hence, the exhausting part...)

2. He can fix pretty much anything. I grew up with a father who could fix anything, and I was very spoiled. There have only been a number of things we've had to hire out. It's a great blessing.

3. He is funny and makes me laugh.

4. He thinks "take down" wrestling is a family sport. The kids dig it, but mom does not. (He actually waited in a dark bathroom this morning to scare me and wrestle me to the bed before I left for work. He of course thought this was HILARIOUS!)

5. He is extremely attractive to me in a Pioneer Woman loves Marlboro Man kinda way when he's wearing outdoor work clothes. (DO NOT ask me to explain this... I don't even know how.) I'm being honest here.

6. He wants to be the center of attention and this blog all the time. Come on.

7. He accepts me for who I am, but loves to tease me.

8. Faithful.

9. Hard worker.

10. Needs to work on his gift giving a little more than he does. Now, I'm not talking about surprising me with random gifts or anything...this is just about birthday, Christmas, and anniversary maybe. (Instead of getting better after 14 years of marriage, unfortunately it's gotten worse. ) Do I really need to make a list for this too? (exasperated sigh.)

11. Loves our children unconditionally.

12. Thinks it would be fun if we were a team on the Amazing Race TV show. (It would be fun, but we'd probably kill each other. There would also be a lot of yelling.)

I know we don't have the greatest love story in the world, but it works for us. I'll keep him, but I'd sure like to throw his John Deere display tractors to the curb!

I guess what I'm saying is, don't take your loved ones for granted. Good or bad, they love you too.

Love...homemade style.

I'm a big fan of decorating for the seasons. Really. I am.

I have decorations for Easter, and Thanksgiving, and Christmas. (LOTS of decorations for Christmas!)

But for Valentine's Day, not so much.

However, this year, I decided to put some up. Some HOMEMADE ones. You see, my inspiration over at Flowerpatchfarmgirl made these lovelies.

I didn't have a heart punch like hers, so I just folded magazine papers in beautiful colors in half, and free-handed the hearts.

HUNDREDS of hearts while I was watching a movie one day.

It took me an entire 2 hour movie to make these. (Probably would've went faster with a punch...I priced them in the store...but it wasn't worth it.)

I just used my tape runner to attach them all together, and put them on long pieces of embrodery floss I had in my sewing box.

I think I like flowerpatchgirl's are a lot better....but mine do the job.

Then I added some decorations I already had.

Helps that I have red throughout the house anyway.

It's comin' ya'll. The Holiday is upon us.

Don't hesitate to tell your sweetheart/kids/anyone you love them. NOW!
