It's OPEN!!!!

So I've LITERALLY been waiting months for this place to open. No, I've been DYING for this place to open.
You see, I've driven past this place, under construction every day since May. We all heard rumors from the neighbors....it is going to be a bulk foods store....it's going to be a farmer's market....we're not sure what it will be...
The suspense was killing me!
So, TODAY was opening day. Maybe I should preface all this excitement.
I live in a small town. A very small town. We used to have a tiny grocery store when I was growing up, but that was before Meijer and Walmart. My drive to the grocery store takes about 20 minutes. Not bad, but it takes a day of errand running to make it worthwhile. I literally "go to town" like the amish, about once a week. Nothing against the amish, just an annoying inconvenience.
SO......THIS is why I've been so excited for this quaint little store to open. It looks like a little barn PEOPLE. How cute is that?

My son, of all things, likes mini chocolate chips in his pancakes. I oblige him this by going to a bulk foods store about 20 minutes away every once in awhile. This is the only place I can find milk chocolate mini chips. NOW I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ANYMORE...IT'S ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK!
Just look at all the fun colors lined up on the shelves...

I was the 4th customer to enter the store today. The owner came right up to me, welcomed me and asked my name. Then he proceeded to tell me if I didn't see anything on the shelves that I wanted, to tell him and he would get it for me. WOW! You DON'T find service like that at Walmart! Good grief. I could barely stop smiling.
They even have a deli and a refrigerated section.
and an adorable striped awning across the whole front of the store...INSIDE.
I had to call Brent and tell him I WAS JUST IN THE NEW STORE. I know, I need to get a grip, but I've been waiting for this for so long. This is so much more convenient if I forget something. Also, I just love the small town feeling of it.
If you're ever out my way, check out this adorable store on CR 23 in New Paris.

Support our local business PEOPLE! That's all I'm gonna say about that!

  1. I'm jealous. Wish we had something more like that in my town. It looks much better than our walmart.

  3. Looks like Grandma's Pantry, only newer. Love GP and frequent that store once a week. Subway is opening soon in Wakarusa and I can't wait!

  6. Is this the place by my parents house?? I knew mom said the neighbor was building some "store" and saw it in the construction phase, but I hadn't heard her say anything more. Guess that's just ONE more reason I need to get over to New Paris!
